The estate was founded in 1984 by Sandro Chia, who planted vineyards using the indigenous Sangiovese that is typical of Montalcino. Today, these plantings comprise about half of the vineyards at Castello Romitorio and offer enormous heritage of biodiversity. The name Filo di Seta, when translated, means silk thread, and this wine takes its
